Enhanced clinical documentation quality and improved clinician productivity with IKS ScribbleTM

About the organization

A full-service community and regional teaching hospital serving patients from more than 20 towns in Massachusetts. The non-profit, acute-care facility is committed to providing exceptional care across primary care and specialty services.

Burnout and lost productivity after a new EHR

After rolling out a new EHR, the hospital’s clinicians were carrying a heavier documentation load and losing productivity. Two challenges stood out:

A guided Scribble rollout with a virtual practice partner

IKS Health began by identifying clinicians based on their practice patterns and their willingness to adopt the solution. Working closely with clinicians and practice management, the team trained each one on using IKS Scribble to reach personalized practice goals. To make the change stick, IKS Health paired every clinician with a dedicated virtual practice partner who supported them on clinical documentation and during practice.

Higher productivity, evenings back for clinicians

Clinicians spent more time with patients and less on notes, and the numbers followed. They started each visit with IKS Scribble and engaged more fully with the patient instead of the keyboard, while IKS Health physicians created clinically accurate charts and delivered them the next morning for review.

I don't have to write my notes at night. In between visits, I am not trying to enter information, and I can look at my labs, phone calls, and more. I can engage more with patients instead of worrying about writing all their information down, particularly with a very long-winded patient.
